Philadelphia Bartending School - Budweiser American Ale

The New Budweiser American Ale has just been released and is making its way to restaurants, bars, and pubs across the country.

The company website decribes its new ale as carefully brewed, with caramel malted barley and it is dry-hopped with Cascade hops from the Pacific Northwest that gives the beer a citrus aroma.

I was able to try out the American Ale this past week, and found it had a surprisingly lighter flavor than alot of ales I have tried in the past. The head presented a off-white appearance, and the beer itself a deep amber color.

There is a new website for Budweiser American Ale, that has some great video's with the brewmaster, Tom O'Connell. It also has an interactive map that a person could submit their zipcode and it will pinpoint what bars, restaurants, and markets in their area that are currently carrying Budweiser American Ale.

You can check it out at http://www.budamericanale.com/

Philadelphia Bartending School - How About a Little Beer?

How About a Little Beer?

Usually a reponse to that question is no, I want a big beer ! Little Beers are a alot different. I found out about these unique shooters when visiting a local pub here in the Midwest. They were served a very small beer mug that held about two ounces.

The main ingredient is Licor 43, a liqueur that has been made in Spain for over 1800 years. Also known as Cuarenta Y Tres, (which translates into the number 43). Licor 43 has almost the same color as a lager beer, however has a sweet vanilla flavor.

The Licor 43 is poured into the mini mug to three-quarters full. The bartender then gently tops it with whipped cream, to resemble the foam head of a beer. The flavor tastes just like vanilla ice cream!

Philadelphia Bartending School - Did You Know? - Anheuser-Busch

This is the second of a series of "Did You Know?". This will be information about the world of spirits. I will be featuring a different spirit in each "Did You Know" blog.

Beer is a food product and does have a shelf life. Anheuser Busch Beers packaged in bottles and cans has a shelf life of 110 days from the born on date printed on each can and bottle of Anheuser Busch beers. Draft beer from Anheuser Busch is 50 days from the born on date.

Can & Bottled beer is pasturized. Draft Beer is not, so draft must be kept cold at all times.

Foam head is a good thing. Beer poured down the side of the glass eliminating the foam head will make the beer look flat and unappealing. It will make the beer taste gassy and will fill you up faster.

A half-barrel of beer holds 15.5 gallons and yields 154 servings. Drawing a beer down the side of the glass eliminating the foam head only will serve about 124 servings. That is a large loss in servings and profits as well.
